We enjoyed our last Berkeley Repertory Theatre Workshop this week with a Castro Valley version of Lemony Snicket’s, The Composer is Dead. The kids had fun playing dead, violas, and their grand finale of the walking dead. We hope to have Berkeley Repertory Theatre back for more workshops in the Fall.
We built em’ and raced em’ at the last Lego Club Play Date, and will meet again for free play on Thursday, June 23rd from 1:00-2:30pm.

We had a great Spring Break at the Castro Valley Library! We started off the week with a visit from Sulphur Creeek, and a hands on Drummm program. Monday we offered a Baby Sitting Workshop, had two movies later in the week, a Berkeley Rep Theatre Workshop for aspiring actors, a Preschool Storytime, Lego Club Play Day, and finished the week off with a Teen+Senior Video Gaming program. We hope you had a great Spring Break, and were able to participate in some of the programs we offered. Back to school next week, but summer is right around the corner and so is our Summer Reading Game. The Summer Reading Game begins June 13th and the theme is One World, Many Stories. Check out our Event Keeper for more information on the Summer Reading Game and other upcoming events. The devastating magnitude 9.0 earthquake in Japan is a reminder to all of us in the Bay Area that we must be prepared for earthquakes and tsunamis. Residents should evaluate whether their home needs to be retrofitted, secure their home’s contents and keep an emergency kit.
Join Danielle Hutchings, ABAG Earthquake and Hazards Program Coordinator for a workshop on retrofitting your home and preparing for the next big one. The Castro Valley Library will host this two hour workshop. No registration is necessary.

The Creative Writing Workshop with Heather Vogel Frederick was a smash success! The class was full and eager to learn more about the writing process. They learned that inspiration is everywhere and perspiration is a job hazard for writers. Many of the kids walked away with a signed book or bookmark and a new perspective on the craft of creative writing. Rave reviews were bestowed on the writer and workshop by attending parents and participants.
Many thanks to Heather, for bringing her fabulous workshop to the Castro Valley Library!
