bulldozer-05-07.jpg you’ve Have you seen bulldozers, trucks, and workers at the new library site, and wondered if we broke ground without alerting the Castro Valley community?  We haven’t.  The daylighting of the creek next to the library has begun. We are expecting the creek construction to be completed by the end of summer.  If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, drive by and take a look.

self-checkout-machine.jpgDid you know that last month 55% of customers at the Castro Valley Libary chose to use the Library’s self-check out machines to check-out their materials? Kids especially appreciate the high tech user friendly machines. You can choose to read instructions to help guide you through the process in English, Chinese or Spanish.  And when you are through you’ll get a printed receipt that lists the materials checked out to you,  and the dates they are due back at the library.  Of course our staff are available to all who prefer the human touch.  They can check-out your materials, or help you to use the self-checkout machine.  The current library has 2 self-checkout machines,  and the new library will have at least 3 to help with the increased circulation we are expecting.
