Prince Caspian movie standee

Prince Caspian is making a brief visit to the Castro Valley Library this week in the form of a huge movie standee. He is here to encourage kids to “read the books that started it all”. Hurry on down to check out a title in the Chronicles of Narnia series, or to enjoy a photo op with Prince Caspian (played by Ben Barnes). Cardboard never looked so good!

After the groundbreaking, many people asked us when construction would really get started.  People would tell us they drove by the site and didn’t see very much going on.  All that has changed.  Last Thursday, on May 15th construction began in earnest.  There are many workers, and much equipment leveling and digging.  Drive by Norbridge Ave. and take a look.

This month’s LEGO club theme was “robots” and judging by the weaponry on this month’s winner, you could say he blew away the competition.  Here we have Nicholas with his robot creation “The Devastator.”  As you can tell this robot is packing serious heat.  According to Nicholas, among “The Devastator’s” many enemy robot obliterating weapons are a gatling gun, a laser gun, 2 laser cannons, a heavy duty cannon, a hunter killer missle, and for good measure, a power saw that can cut through robot steel like it was aluminum.  Add to this “The Devastator’s” 10 inch titanium armor and “jump jets” and this is one robot you shouldn’t mess with.

Thanks to everyone who participated.  Join us on June 28th for our next LEGO club where our theme will be “Around Town.”  What does your town have…a fire station, a post office, a movie theater?  Build any building that you would see “around town” and share it with others on June 28th

Bill Wood has been collecting sea otters; carvings, photographs, stuffed animals and more for more than 40 years.  Most of his collection comes from the Monterey/Pacific Grove area.  It has been a slow process Bill says, because some years he finds only one or two items to add and some years none at all.  His collection will be in the library’s display case until June 2nd.
