There are lots of stories in the news lately about how important library service has become in this economy. Not only are members saving money on DVD rentals, CD and book purchases (average $2500.00 per year savings according the Valley Times 3/1/2009), but library computers are used for creating resumes and filling out job and California unemployment applications. 50 people have taken advantage of the Castro Valley Library’s Job Hunt Thursday Workshops.

Library school student Dawn Balestreri, with support of library staff, is offering hands on help with resumes and applications along with job search tips. Workshop attendees get extended computer use time (up to 2 hours) to complete applications, create or update resumes, and pour through job postings. Job Hunt Thursdays”is scheduled each week through April from 10am til noon. Sign ups are required.
