We have our final program of the season today @ 1pm. Kung Fu Panda 2 will play in the Chabot/Canyon Room.
Sulphur Creek brought critters yesterday to share. An owl, mouse and rabbit were part of the program and we had a crowd (photo below). Thanks to Sulphur Creek for their wonderful programming.
In January we have a new program coming to the library, Kids for the Bay will bring their worm composting program to the Castro Valley Library. This program is suitable for children in 1st-5th. We have limited availability and registration is required. You can register @ the Children’s Desk. Here’s hoping you all have a safe and Happy New Year!

There’s one week remaining of Playtime (11/10) @ 10 am. It’s been a blast and our group has grown from about 25 to more than 75 today! We listen to stories told by a retired Children’s Librarian, enjoy a craft and play! Come play with us next week and look for more Playtimes after the new year.

We had a great Spring Break at the Castro Valley Library! We started off the week with a visit from Sulphur Creeek, and a hands on Drummm program. Monday we offered a Baby Sitting Workshop, had two movies later in the week, a Berkeley Rep Theatre Workshop for aspiring actors, a Preschool Storytime, Lego Club Play Day, and finished the week off with a Teen+Senior Video Gaming program. We hope you had a great Spring Break, and were able to participate in some of the programs we offered. Back to school next week, but summer is right around the corner and so is our Summer Reading Game. The Summer Reading Game begins June 13th and the theme is One World, Many Stories. Check out our Event Keeper for more information on the Summer Reading Game and other upcoming events. You can also subscribe to our Event Keeper by using the RSS feed button in the middle of the Event Keeper page.

We just finished up our last program of the year and more than 150 people joined us! Sulphur Creek came by to read with a screech owl, rabbit, tortoise and mice to enrich the storytime. The kids had a great time listening and participating in the stories and touching some of the animals. What an amazing group of volunteers who donate their time to Sulphur Creek! Sulphur Creek Nature Center is a wildlife education and rehabilitation facility whose mission is to promote the conservation of local environmental resources by fostering an appreciation and understanding of the animals in the world around us, and encouraging peaceful coexistence between people and native wildlife by serving as a community resource for wildlife issues. The Castro Valley Library will continue to host programs with Sulphur Creek in the New Year in our outdoor amphitheater. Look for the Hayward Area Recreation Activities Guide for more information or contact the Library. You can find Sulphur Creek on the web @ http://www.haywardrec.org/sulphur_creek.html
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
