Bring your child (birth to age 5) to the library on Saturday, April 18 at 2pm to enjoy a free preview of a Kids’ Music Round class. This fun-filled music and movement program demonstration is presented by Theresa Jones of Early Start Music. In her classes, children and their parents or caregivers meet to experience songs, rhymes, movement activities, and instrumental play time together. A number of reading professionals have advocated teaching literacy through music and song. Give your child a head start at success–remember “reading and music are friends!”

Coming off the heels of a very successful book sale last month, the Friends of the Castro Valley are finding more ways to get books into the hands of the public. For the entire month of April, the Friends will be shuffling rare and unique books in and out of our display case for a month long auction. Whether you’re into literary rarities, breathtaking art books, or stunning architectural tomes, the Friends of the Library auction promises something of interest for everybody. The bidding is sure to be fast and furious so hurry on in and get in on the action.
